The Forum on Korean Research Center in Nankai University Held in the Faculty of History

On May 19, 2017, the Forum on Korean Research Center in Nankai University was held in the Faculty of History at Nankai University (UKU). Focused on the modern Korea and China relationship, the forum discussed major topics of history, literature and culture. About 20 scholars of related areas from Nankai University, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University and Tianjin Academy of Social Science et al. attended the forum. Prof. Han Shijun, Dean of Institute of Asian and American Studies, from Dankok University, made a special trip from Korea to congratulate the establishment of the center.

At the opening ceremony, Associate Prof. Wang Antai chaired the meeting. Prof. Jiang Pei extended a cordial welcome to all the experts and guests, introducing the theme of the forum and wishing the forum a complete success.

Prof. Cao Zhongpin from Nankai University, Prof. Wang Zhen from Tianjin Normal University, Prof. Jiang Longfan from Tianjin Foreign Studies University et al., presented their academic researchers at the forum. These scholars had in-depth discussions on topics of “The Ancient History of China-Korea relations”, “The Nationalism and Historiography ”, “Literature and History of China and Korea”, and “The Modern History of China, Japan and Korea”.


By bringing together such a number of distinguished scholars in Korean Studies circle, the forum really did the best on carrying on the fine tradition and exploring new areas of academic research and the forefront of Korean studies. In the inaugural ceremony of Korea Research Center of Nankai University, Prof. Wang Antai, vice Deputy Director of Korea Research Center, and Prof. Yu Xinzhong introduced basic information of the new established center. Prof. Cao Zhongping, Prof. Zhao Ji, Associate Prof. Li Chunfu of Dan Kook University, and Prof. Han Shijun congratulated the center and looked forward to the future. Thus, it was highly recognized by the academia and doomed to have a great influence on the development of Korean studies at NKU.
