Prof. Zhao Xuegong from the Faculty of History is Appointed as the Distinguished Professors of the 2016 Chang Jiang Scholars Program

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the 2016 Chang Jiang Scholars Program. 2 professors at Nankai University (NKU) are appointed as distinguished professors of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program and 4 professors at NKU are selected as young scholars of the 2016 Chang Jiang Scholars Program. Prof. Zhao Xuegong from the Faculty of History is selected as the distinguished professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program by virtue of his excellent academic research achievements.

 

“The Chang Jiang Scholars Program,” jointly sponsored by China’s Ministry of Education (MOE) and Li Ka Shing Foundation, was initiated in August 1998. With the goal of promoting research levels of the universities in China, the award goes to China’s top scholars and young researchers with outstanding academic potential. The award winners are honored with the title of “Chang Jiang Distinguished Professor” and are provided with grants for their research. Each year, over 100 distinguished professors are appointed under the program, each with a three-year term of appointment.

 

Up till now, NKU has 67 professors of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, ranked among the top in universities nationwide. 2 professors in the Faculty of History are appointed as the distinguished professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program: Prof. Wang Lihua and Prof. Zhao Xuegong. Moreover, Prof. Yu Xinzhong was selected as young scholars of the 2015.
