On April 8, 2017, Prof. Filippo Renconi from the EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences socials) visited the Eastern Europe Research Center in the Faculty of History at Nankai University.
The main task of the Prof. Renconi’s visit to China, is to give lectures on the topic of Byzantine Studies as a joint project of the Peking University. Prof. Renconi was accompanied by Prof. Chen Zhiqang, the Director of the Eastern Europe Research Center, Associate Prof. Wu Peng and Dr Pang Guoqing. Prof. Renconi expressed admiration to Prof. Chen Zhiqang for the establishment of the center, which is the only research institution related to the Byzantine Studies. After communicating the respective academic achievements, both agreed to establish cooperation in teaching and scientific research for the Byzantine research field and provide extensive exchanges in the books and reference materials.
