“The Second Gender Issues in the Construction of Contemporary Chinese Historiography: New Theory, New Perspective, and New Analysis Forum” Held in NKU

On June 19-22, 2017, the Second Gender Issues in the Construction of Contemporary Chinese Historiography: New Theory, New Perspective, and New Analysis Forum, co-hosted by the Women's Studies Institute of China, Nankai University, and the Center for Women’s Studies, was held in Nankai University (NKU). About 50 Scholars from Peking University, Nankai University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Sichuan University, Tianjin University, Hebei University, Shanghai University, Shanxi Normal University, Shanxi Normal University, South China Normal University, Tianjin Normal University, Anhui Normal University, Hebei Normal University, Shenyang Normal University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Capital University of Economics and Business, Capital Normal University, China Women’s University, Central China Normal University, East China University of Political science and Law, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Furen University, Columbia University, China Working Publishing House, Unity Press, Collections of Women’s Studies, Journal of Tianjin University, Journal of Shanxi University et al. attended the conference. This forum devoted to empowering women’s philanthropic program in the pursuit of gender justice and social development

Focused on the topics of “Traditional Female Groups and Their Gender Culture”, “Gender in Traditional Beliefs and Images”, “Media and Gender”, “Group and Gender”, “Text, Life and Gender Studies”, “Gender Discourse Studies”, “Revolution, War and Gender”, “Gender Culture”, and “New Theory in Gender Research”, representatives from schools and related departments delivered excellent speeches, creating a new pattern of women and gender studies in recent years.

This forum followed the success of First Gender Issues in the Construction of Contemporary Chinese Historiography: New Theory, New Perspective, and New Analysis Forum last year. More than 130 domestic and foreign scholars submitted papers. The forum provides an academic exchange platform for scholars all over the world to demonstrate their achievements in scientific research, and offered an opportunity for the cross-regional, interdisciplinary academic exchanges in the gender research.
