NKU Holds the Facts and Imagination in Early and Medieval Chinese History Conference

On August 22-23, 2017, the Facts and Imagination in Early and Medieval Chinese History Conference, which was co-organized by the Faculty of History in NKU and Historical Association of Wei-Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasty of Chin, was held in Nankai University (NKU). About 50 scholars of related areas from universities and academic institutions in America, Japan, Korea and Taiwan attended the conference. Through the plenary meeting, parallel symposiums and sub-forums, the Imagination in Early and Medieval Chinese History Conference brought together about 50 outstanding scholars from home and abroad to focus on academic frontiers.

Hosted by Prof. Wang Antai, Prof. Jiang Pei, the Dean of the Faculty of the History,  extended a warm welcome to scholars from around the globe, and expressed gratitude to their support in historical research. He introduced the construction of NKU early and medieval Chinese history, and hoped that the scholars could offer suggestions and participate in the construction and development of the Faculty of History. Prof. Keith N. Knapp, the president of the American Early Medieval China Group and the professor from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, delivered a speech by Introducing the basic information about the Early Medieval China Group and The Journal of Early Medieval China. He also pointed out his understanding of facts and imagination in ancient Chinese history.

On the afternoon of August 23, the conference invited 26 young scholars to share their academic researches after the presentation delivered by Prof. Lou Jing and Prof. Jin Bingjun. In the discussion session, the participants held heated discussion on several topics. Finally, Prof. Yang Zhenhong summarized the main points of this conference and expressed the gratitude to the conference. He hoped that this kind of forum would continue to be held.
