Prof. Joseph Raymond Dennis Gives a Lecture in Nankai University

On September 21, 2017, Prof. Joseph Raymond Dennis from the Department of History in the University of the Wisconsin, gave a lecture on “The Publication and Dissemination of the Song of the Ming and Qing Dynasties” in Nankai University. Hosted by Prof. He Xiaorong, about 10 scholars including Prof. Zhang Yingpin, from the China Local Records Group; Prof. Li Zhe, from the School of Architecture in Tianjin University; and Prof. Xu Hong, Prof. Chang Jianhua, Prof. Yu Xinzhong, Prof. Bian LI, and Associate Prof. Zhang Chuanyong, attended the lecture.

Prof. Joseph Raymond Dennis first shared the origin of his research. When he visited the French National Library, he paid attention to the Song of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the research of legal knowledge circulation. He analyzed the categories of the Song and stated that it was a charming verbal and written mixture in essence. The attendees asked several interesting questions and got valuable suggestions. Prof. Chang Jianhua summarized the main points of the lecture. Scholars should make full use of database and technology with the development of the big data.
