Institute of Modern & Contemporary Chinese History

Modern and contemporary Chinese history has been taught and studied ever since the foundation of the Department of History at Nankai University in 1923. This discipline has been selected twice as a national key program in 1988 and 2002 respectively. The institute of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History was founded in 2002. Professor Li Xisuo is the Director recently.

 

There are Section of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Section of Zhou Enlai Studies, Section of History of Northern Coastal Areas, Center for History of Chinese Studied Abroad, Center for Religious and Cultural Studies. There are 9 doctoral supervisors, 9 professors, 4 associate professors and 1 lecturers working at the institute recently.

 

Socio-cultural history has been a holistic focus international and national academic conferences were sponsored or cosponsored successfully by the institute for many times. Working together with Japanese or Canadian scholars, cooperative investigations and researches on regional social history of northern China have been done for many times.
