In late 2019, the Ministry of Education of China officially unveiled the preliminary list of the national initiative of developing 10,000 state-level undergraduate programs and 10,000 provincial-level undergraduate programs. Two undergraduate programs, Chinese History and World History, of the Faculty of History of Nankai University, have been put on the list.
According to the Ministry of Education, the three-year plan for developing degree programs should be further perfected, and the structure of the degree programs should be continuously optimized. Driven by social needs and benchmarked with the first-class degree programs, the contents of the degree programs should be enriched and their level should be raised. Guided by new philosophy, new-type demonstrative undergraduate programs of humanities and social sciences should be built and first-class undergraduate curricula that adapt to the needs of cultivating innovation-oriented, versatile and applicative talents should be developed.
