On April 8, 2023, the contract-signing ceremony for the compilation of the Chinese Basketball Chronicle and the discussion meeting with famous Chinese basketball players was officially held at Balitai Campus of Nankai University. Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University, and Yao Ming, Chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.
The Chinese Basketball Chronicle is a major project carried out through the collaboration between the Chinese Basketball Association and Nankai University. It is a large-scale publication that systematically and comprehensively documents the history and development of basketball in China. The Chronicle consists of 16 volumes, including titles such as overview, competitive basketball, mass basketball, school basketball, national basketball teams, professional basketball and the basketball industry, basketball technology and professional talent cultivation, basketball culture and media communication, international exchanges, basketball in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, profiles of significant individuals, general records, literature, miscellaneous records, and photo collection. It is estimated to be completed within five years and will encompass a total of 6 million words.
Currently, Nankai University has established the Nankai University Research Center for Chinese Basketball History and Culture, which is responsible for organizing and managing the Chinese Basketball Chronicle project.
