On May 13, the founding meeting of the Faculty of History Branch of Nankai Alumni Association was held on the Jinnan Campus of Nankai University. The teachers, students, alumni, and distinguished guests of the Faculty of History attended the conference, and witnessed the unforgettable moment.
The meeting reviewed and approved the Working Manner of the Faculty of History Branch of the Nankai Alumni Association and the recommended list of the first council members and their intended positions. Mr. Fan Zeng was appointed as the honorary president. San Xiangjun, the former member of the Standing Committee of CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, and Xue Jinwen, former secretary of the Nankai University Party Committee, were appointed as chief consultants. Zhang Guogang, former professor of the Faculty of History of Nankai University and professor of Tsinghua University, was appointed as president. Wang Xiaode, Long Haijun, Guan Mucun, An Laiyun, Li Qingxin, Li Jianming, Hu Yanyan, Xu Guoqi, Jiang Jian, Wen Guipeng, and Pan Hejia were appointed as vice presidents. Lan Hai, associate professor of the School of Marxism at Nankai University and former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of History, was appointed as the secretary general.
As the first president of the Faculty of History Branch of the Nankai Alumni Association, Zhang Guogang stated in his speech that a group of talented individuals graduating from Nankai's Faculty of History have played significant roles in various fields, contributing to China's modernization. With the establishment of the Faculty of History of the Nankai Alumni Association, he called upon all alumni to unite and work together, pooling their wisdom and creativity to forge a new path for the development of Nankai's history discipline in the next hundred years. He also extended an invitation to all history alumni to participate in the centennial celebration of Nankai's history discipline.
During the meeting, Dean Yu Xinzhong of the Faculty of History delivered a special report titled Rebuilding Brilliance: Nankai History Towards the Future. He introduced the new centennial development plan of Nankai's history discipline and announced that the Nankai History Centennial Celebration would be held on October 5th of this year.
